Begum Nusrat Bhutto was residing in the senator’s house in Gulburg
and taking food to Zulfiqar ali Bhutto while he was in jail. Zulfiqar ali Bhutto
used to give her notices and writings on pieces of papers, Nusrat Bhutto put
those pieces of papers in the Tiffin and takes them back to home. These pieces
of papers were later on compiled and a book was formed which is “IF I AM ASSASSINATED”
From prison, ZA Bhutto said few words regarding the danger
of losing all Pakistan. He said “The crisis that Pakistan faces today is far
graver and catastrophic than the crisis of 1971. In 1971, the danger was of
losing East Pakistan. In 1978, the danger is of losing all of what remains of Pakistan.
I agree that if any country faces a martial law as Pakistan did,
the country will be divided into pieces. For instance, if India has suffered from
military dictatorships on the pattern of Pakistan than India would have been in
five or six pieces today. The answer to why India has been kept in one piece
is, Democracy. That is why Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto used to chant a very attractive
and realistic slogan that “Democracy is our politics”.
