PML-N candidate Shah Saleem khan won the by-polls for the
Gilgit-Baltistan legislative assembly that was vacated last year. According to
unofficial results, Shah Saleem khan won the elections by securing
approximately 4600 votes and second position was grasped by the independent
candidate Obaid ullah baig. While a very conspicuous and youth friendly
candidate of Awami workers party (AWP) Mr.Baba jan was not in the ranking.
The great nations manage to reach the top by setting a very
just and clean system in their society, which is not present in the skeleton of
our society and people. I want to put one query in front of the students, youth
and voters of the constituency where recently the son of Mir Gazanfar won the elections.
The question is why the people of Hunza did not resist when Governor Mir
Gazanfar who was a previous winner of the seat from the same party nominated
his own son for the candidate of by-polls. Despite the 100 percent literacy rate in Hunza,
despite the so-called businesspersons who trade nationally and internationally,
despite considering themselves the top developed civil society in the Northern areas and despite
ranking themselves amongst the most aware and civilized societies of Pakistan
they were silent.
I was very dubious about the cryptic visit of COAS and Prime
Minister Nawaz sharif to Gilgit-Baltistan. I was expecting the new political,
socio-economic or business reforms by the COAS and PM and was hopeful that they
will insinuate a new package for the businesspersons and students. However, the
foremost objective of the visit was the by-polls and seat for PML-N. hence PM was successful.
The blame that he is an incompetent and useless now became
fiction for the voters of Hunza, they don’t have a reason to blame anyone
because they elected Shah Saleem and rejected Baba Jan as their leader who will decide their future.
Aristotle defines education as process necessary for the
creation of a sound mind in a sound body. Here the condition he applied is that
the definition of education is fulfilled if it is able to create a sound mind,
if not, than it is useless. The high investment on the education must give positive
response to the society if not, than we should through the system and bring new
one. Nonetheless, the people of Hunza
had an option of a fair devoted candidate they elected PML-N candidate, which
shows that how immature they are and they want to live like slaves as they were
few years ago.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N)
made a room for its politics by throwing other parties and according to my opinion
this party will devolve the whole system and there is no hope of development of
institutions and governance. Sorry followers of PML-N.
Politics is a social instrument through which societies are
guided. My recommendation is that if there is no decentralization of decision-makings
and if the people are not given greater autonomy and fair rights, the ill coordination
between people, opposition parties and government will insinuate revolt in
Gilgit Baltistan.
